Our fraud team is one of the top teams in the world, ranked in Tier 1 of both UK The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for civil fraud. It works on the largest civil fraud and asset recovery cases globally, and is currently handling a number of $1 billion+ cases, including enforcing in England the largest ever arbitration awards in legal history (against the Russian Federation). The team is ambitious and growing, but also close-knit. Having been exceedingly busy over the last years, it is now looking to add another associate to the team.
A significant part of the team's case load involves freezing orders and other interim injunctions, and almost all the work is cross border. All the associates in the team gain significant court experience, usually attending multiple hearings every year.
Associates are encouraged to take responsibility early, with plenty of direct contact with clients, experts and counsel. Associates work for the two partners within the team, and efforts are made to ensure all associates have a mixed case load. The partners are committed to the professional development of the team, and actively invest time in mentoring and training. Associates get involved in marketing from the day they qualify with us or join us, with the support of the partners and more experienced associates, and there are lots of opportunities to attend team marketing events. We offer associates travel opportunities, both for client work and marketing, with the majority of our associates travelling at least once a year on business. The team wishes to grow the number of partners in it, so there will be promotion opportunities for the right candidate in the future.
We are seeking an associate with post-qualification experience in civil litigation, and an interest in fraud or the civil enforcement of judgments and awards. Regulatory and criminal experience is not relevant to this role.
